Odoo 20 Sneak Peek: The Highlights


At the Odoo Partner Day in early April 2026, the Product Owners of Odoo provided initial insights into Odoo 20 and the numerous innovations and functional extensions. As we have come to expect from Odoo, the business software will become even smarter, simpler, and more user-friendly with the annual release – with AI that seamlessly integrates into every work step.


Below we have summarized all the new features for you.

Artificial Intelligence: Deep Integration into Odoo

Artificial intelligence is no longer an isolated tool in version 20, but an integral part of workflow support.

Website & Helpdesk: AI actively assists in creating and updating content (text & images) as well as in processing support tickets.

Automation: Proactive suggestions and data validations run through all core modules to minimize manual processes.

Finance and Accounting: Global, Transparent, and Intuitive

Odoo 20 optimizes central financial processes through automated account reconciliations, global payment interfaces, and streamlined payroll.

  • Public accounting data: Standard data such as chart of accounts, taxes, and deductibility are publicly accessible for each localization.

  • Pricing: Users can specify whether prices for products are inclusive or exclusive of taxes; documents adjust dynamically to this.

  • Partner-IDs: The storage and validation of multiple identification numbers for partners has been integrated.

  • Account reconciliation: Each account can now be reconciled, with adjustment entries (e.g., for currency differences or cash basis taxes) being triggered automatically.

Time management is refined through intelligent assistance systems.

Data Protection: All data is stored locally; supervisors do not have access to the raw data of activities.

Odoo Warehouse: Optimization of Usability and Efficiency

Inventory management has been optimized for user-friendliness and speed.

  • Simplification: A general inventory is pre-set; deliveries can be updated directly without complex intermediate steps.

  • Logistics: Route planning based on goods movement lines as well as support for CMR documents.

  • Automation: Pre-coded packages for goods receipts enable direct scanning via barcode. There are also improvements in the storage rules and the continuous inventory valuation.

Production: Optimized Overview

  • MRP-Kanban: A new, organized Kanban board for manufacturing orders (MO) enables better visualization of the workload.

  • PLM: A new ECO overview report allows for the analysis of change costs at a glance.

Point-of-Sale: Technological realignment, Hardware Integration, and more Performance

The POS area undergoes a technological realignment in Odoo 20 with a focus on stability and autonomy.

Hardware made easy: Access to the local network is done via the Chromium browser. Importing certificates for printers is completely eliminated, significantly simplifying the setup.

Automation and Design: Menus are applied automatically, and a new floor plan editor allows for precise design of the sales area.

Integrations: Support for cash dispensers (Glory, Cashdro, Cashmatic) as well as new payment providers like Mollie, M-Pesa, and Wero (Payconiq).

Self-Service: Orders at the self-service counter are now possible even when the restaurant is closed. Optional products and automatic assignment of courses (starter, main course, etc.) complete the offering.

Performance:The system requires significantly less RAM in the browser.

Snooze: Products can be displayed or hidden.

Odoo Website: Optimized design and performance

The website builder has been optimized in terms of design and performance.

  • User Interface: New sidebar, improved snippets (WhatsApp, age popup) and an optimized grid mode.
  • Technology: Significantly reduced loading times and enhanced SEO features (microdata, JSON-LD, image-srcset).
  • Forms: Field validations, file type restrictions, and linked fields for country/state enhance data quality.
  • Appointment: The online appointment booking has been technically and visually revamped. Highlights include optimized UX with real-time availability, direct Microsoft Teams integration, improved capacity management, and a modern frontend with POS floor plan integration for precise seat selection.

CRM & Marketing in Odoo 20

The integration of lead generation and customer care has been strengthened.

  • Marketing Automation: General overhaul and optimization of functions. In particular, the creation of triggers that enable automated sending of emails, SMS, or WhatsApps.

  • CRM: Management of multiple pipelines and new plugins for email services as well as improved automatic assignment rules.

Sales: Improvements and new features

  • Variant management: Editable prices for variants and a simplification of the variant system overall.

  • Portal: Complete redesign of the sales order portal and optimization of the payment process.

  • Prices: Introduction of pricing rules for quantity units and new customer promotions.

  • Improvements: Tag management, management of image variants, additional fields and information, country selection, shipping without stock

Odoo E-Commerce: Additional features

Online sales benefit from improved marketing and logistics tools.

Features: Automated cross-selling, return management, review requests, progress indicators for promotions, and a new dashboard for success tracking.

Aussendienst wird in Planung integriert

The previously standalone app for field service has been discontinued and fully integrated into the planning app.

  • Centralization: All existing functions have been adopted.

  • Future expansions: Planned are travel times in the Gantt view, route optimization via map, assigning materials to employees, a live map with technicians, and a dedicated sidebar for scheduling.

Odoo Project: New Features

Project management now provides sharper economic indicators.

  • Profitability: The old profitability report is being replaced by reports on current and projected margins.
  • Navigation: Project updates and milestones remain accessible through the main menu; you can now switch to the project form view (including improvements such as the customer location map).

Appointment management: Multi-calendar synchronization, workplace visualization, and self-service booking

Appointment management has been expanded for complex requirements in team daily operations.

  • Management of multiple calendars: The synchronization of multiple Google or Outlook accounts per user is now possible.

  • Work locations: Locations (home office/office) are synchronized and visualized.

  • Personal booking pages: Users can create and manage their own booking pages, including flexible availability management through time slots and slot buffering.

  • Integration: Activities in the calendar are directly linked to records; additionally, time recognition is integrated into event titles.

Odoo Sign: Automation and Integration

The digital signature is getting closer to automated business processes.

Automation: Signature requests can be automated and sent via activities and activity plans.

Response export: The list of signatures can be exported from Odoo including timestamps.

Localization: Support for Itsme in over 30 countries and font support for over 40 additional regions.

Data return: Field values in Odoo records can be automatically updated once a document has been signed.

Odoo Knowledge: Document sharing, group approvals

The management of knowledge modules is significantly more efficient due to dynamic group permissions: Documents and articles are no longer assigned to individuals but to functional groups. This greatly minimizes administrative effort during personnel changes (e.g., department transfers) as access rights are automatically synchronized. A seamlessly integrated signature function completes the process and enables legally secure workflows without media breaks.

The communication tools have been scaled for global requirements.

Telephony: Purchase of phone numbers in over 100 countries and configuration of complex call flows.

Discuss: Surveys can be sent directly from Odoo. Additionally, video conferences can be recorded and layouts for the video call can be selected.
