Digitalisation in Retail: Tee Schnabel relies on braintec and Odoo
The specialty tea shop Tee Schnabel has digitalised its inventory management, POS system, online shop and accounting in Odoo together with braintec. The result is optimised business processes and an efficient, end-to-end management on a central platform.
Tee Schnabel is a long-established tea specialty shop in Amstetten, Austria, and has stood for competence, variety and exquisite tea enjoyment since 1979. The product range includes over 350 tea varieties, high-quality tea accessories, spices, fine foods and regional specialties. Tee Schnabel offers personal service, unique taste experiences and also hosts creative and individual tea parties.
From siloed systems to the Odoo All-in-One Suite
Before the implementation of Odoo, Tee Schnabel used three separate systems for the cash register, the online shop and inventory management. "The separate management was tedious and error-prone, as we had to maintain changes in all systems simultaneously," recalls Manuela Neudorfer, owner of Tee Schnabel. "Our goal was to make processes more transparent and consolidate them on a single platform."
Odoo was chosen because the business software offers extensive possibilities for integrating various business processes, is user-friendly and has low license costs. "We were also convinced by the annual Odoo releases, which mean we always have an up-to-date software program," explains Manuela Neudorfer.
The implementation of Odoo by braintec led to various optimisations. Manuela Neudorfer describes the collaboration with braintec as pleasant and enjoyable. “We always received quick and helpful responses. Additionally, the geographical proximity of our project manager is very important to us.“
New Online Shop: Modern and User-Friendly
The online shop has been redesigned and presents the product range of Tee Schnabel in a modern and appealing design. "It was very important for us that our customers can intuitively navigate through the online shop and order easily and conveniently," emphasises Manuela Neudorfer.
“We created the online shop using the standard Odoo Website Builder and the E-Commerce app,” explains Helmut Stritzinger, Project Leader at braintec. The standard built-in shop functionalities allow products to be configured in different sizes, colors and variants. “With the Odoo Website App, high-quality online stores can be designed easily and professionally.”
Integrated inventory management and fast order processing
A highlight is the seamless integration of the online shop and the physical sales point with the inventory management system. "Our stock levels are now accessible at any time and from anywhere. This means we no longer have to go to the warehouse to place orders, but can trigger them directly via our Odoo system," says Manuela Neudorfer.
In the warehouse of Tee Schnabel, all products are managed by batch. This ensures traceability and quality assurance. "Our employees are now picking the items using the barcode scanner. This makes the order processing more efficient and we can trust that the batches are assigned correctly.”
The order processing was further accelerated by the automated creation and printing of shipping and product labels directly from Odoo..
"Thanks to all these optimisations, our customers benefit from fast delivery and we benefit from much simpler internal processes."
Digital RKSV-compliant PoS system with Odoo
Das neue Kassensystem ermöglicht Tee Schnabel einen durchgängigen Verkaufsprozess. “Wir können unsere Produkte entweder scannen oder auf dem übersichtlichen Verkaufsdisplay auswählen”, erklärt Manuel Neudorfer. Auch am PoS wird der Lagerbestand in Echtzeit an der Kasse angezeigt.
In Austria, RKSV-compliant cash registers are legally required. "The Cash Register Security Regulation governs the secure operation at the point of sale, aims to prevent manipulation of cash register data and to make all cash transactions traceable," explains Helmut Stritzinger.
At Tee Schnabel, the RKSV-compliant cash register was integrated by braintec into Odoo 18 using a free app from the Odoo Community. Starting from version Odoo 19, the RKSV-compliant cash register is included by default in Odoo.
Future plans with braintec and Odoo
The digitalisation with braintec and Odoo is not yet complete for Tee Schnabel. After implementing operational business processes such as POS, inventory, sales and accounting, the tea specialist is now focusing on marketing processes like Social Marketing, Newsletters, and Event Management.
