"Going digital with braintec and Odoo has given us a massive modernization boost"

The Albis Bettwarenfabrik develops and produces premium bedding and home textiles. Together with braintec, the company has digitised its processes in sales, purchasing, warehousing, production, logistics, and accounting using the business software Odoo.

For over 40 years, the Albis Bettwarenfabrik has been manufacturing duvets and pillows made from down and feathers, as well as home textiles for leading furniture stores and specialty retailers in Switzerland. Their product range includes custom-made special products, special sizes, and white-label goods.

"To provide our customers with the best sleeping comfort, we precisely adjust the filling mixtures and refine the products with careful handwork." This commitment to quality involves many semi-finished products and a high level of complexity: "We offer around 1,600 products in over 5,200 variations. That’s an average of 17 specific versions per end product," explains CEO and Managing Director Marc Müller.

The vision: centralise knowledge, create transparency, automate processes

"My goal was to make the isolated knowledge of individual experts accessible to everyone, as well as to map out our processes transparently, connect them with each other, and automate them," summarises Marc Müller. However, the existing software system was not technically designed for this.

For the managing director of the Swiss family business in its third generation, it was clear: "We needed a new, intuitive ERP system that supports both me in strategic management and our employees in production."

In search of a solution, the open-source philosophy of Odoo and the consulting expertise of braintec were convincing: "We did not want to fall into a rigid dependency on the large ERP providers. The flexibility of Odoo also perfectly matched our agile mindset. In braintec, we found a reliable partner who addressed our needs individually and provided expert support," reflects Marc Müller.

Odoo, an integrated platform for the future

The replacement of established structures, manual processes, and isolated Excel lists required foresight, consistency, and change management. And the unpopular but very important, rigorous cleaning and structuring of all master data.

The result is a comprehensive solution that intelligently and seamlessly connects all core areas of the Albis Bettwarenfabrik. "Thanks to the centralisation of our workflows, our team now works with the same data and knowledge base, with full transparency and consistency. The automations also make us much more efficient," says Marc Müller, listing his highlights:

  • the data-driven, automated purchasing of semi-finished goods, featuring automatic batch numbering for the traceability of raw materials and ensure compliance with sustainability guidelines.

  • the production tracking, which records down content and filling power during the washing, processing, and sorting of down and feathers. This quality data forms the basis for the automated real-time calculation of the optimal down mixture. Standardised bills of materials define filling, casing, and quilting programs for manufacturing orders, which are generated directly from the sales orders and guide the further processing of the semi-finished products.

  • the fast order processing thanks to centralised, customer-specific instructions for packaging and labeling as well as the automated creation of shipping labels.

  • the more efficient payment reconciliations in accounting and the clear dashboards for data-driven corporate management.

“With the digital transformation, we have successfully combined our artisanal tradition with cutting-edge technology, and are perfectly prepared for the future. I am incredibly proud of this massive modernisation boost,” says Marc Müller.

The Albis Bettwarenfabrik, a Swiss textile company specialising in high-quality bedding and home textiles, has digitised its complex value chain with the Odoo Gold Partner braintec on the open-source ERP software Odoo.

The starting point was the need to replace siloed knowledge, manual processes, and Excel spreadsheets while managing high product complexity (1,600 products, 5,200 variants). Implementing the new ERP system interconnected purchasing, production, logistics, sales, and accounting onto one centralised platform.

  • Purchasing:Automated batch numbering for raw material traceability to comply with sustainability guidelines.
  • Production: Real-time calculation of optimal down mixtures by capturing quality data like down content and fill power, combined with standardised bills of materials.

  • Logistics + Sales: Centralised packaging templates and automated shipping labels.

  • Management: Data-driven dashboards for strategic corporate management.

The project resulted in a massive leap in modernisation, data transparency, and a significant increase in efficiency.
